Susves meadery

The founder of the company is a third-generation beekeeper, to whom beekeeping traditions were passed on by his grandfather and mother. They currently have 200 beehives buzzing at their property. They opened their meadery in 2015 as the only producers of traditional mead in Lithuania.

"Our family is located in the Kėdainiai district, in the village of Plinkaigalis, on the banks of river Šušvė, near the famous Plinkaigalis mound and the Iron Age cemetery. According to archaeologists, mead was already known and drunk during various holidays and ceremonies in this area in prehistoric times" - says the founder.

So, continuing the old traditions of the region, using the mother's experience and knowledge, a meadery was opened. Mead is a naturally fermented alcoholic drink. All of their mead is made from their own  honey, so they can always guarantee high quality mead.

They do not spare honey then making mead - each liter of mead contains up to 750 grams of honey. No chemical additives are used during the making, only natural raw materials (small amounts of sulfites in the composition appear by themselves during the production process).

Susves meadery mature mead for at least 1 year, some types of mead are matured for at least 3 years. The color, taste, and smell of mead are given by the main ingredient - honey. The taste of matured mead is noble, unobtrusively sweet and full bodied. Their mead is poured into bottles of original design, the corks are covered with natural beeswax, so the aroma spreads even without opening the bottle. This drink is recommended as a great gift or souvenir from Lithuania.
